Here is some bad news for twitter users: Giving the site its first setback in several months a Twitter virus has been creating serious trouble for users. At best the virus auto-tweets this message: “Hey everyone, join StalkDaily.com. It is a site like Twitter but with pictures, videos and so much more.” And guess what? It may lock you out of your own Twitter account!
If you had ever wanted Carla Bruni to follow you on Twitter, you might have been able to do so, when this software bug surfaced. The bug allowed anyone to force another user to follow them on Twitter.
Your browser may not support display of this image. It is suggested that account holders in twitter do not visit StalkDaily.com. The virus is such that which even without one registering or logging on to the site it infects your Twitter profile.
While no one has been able to verify the process, there was no official word from Twitter for sometime. Bennet recommends the following steps to remove StalkDaily from your Twitter profile if you’ve been infected.
1. Empty all of your cookies and clear your cache in the browser.
2. Log out of Twitter client or any external applications that you are using.
3. Change your twitter password.
4. Log in and the problem should be solved. If so, log back into twitter client at all.
5. And the most important; go back and delete any tweets sent by you recommending StalkDaily.
Twitter reacted to the crisis later and has issued an update stating that it is aware of StalkDaily. It has informed that the team is working to shut it down and recommends doing a password reset if you’re locked out of your account.
Twitter users, be careful and keep yours eyes wide open for the deadly virus
