On April 9, 2010, Twitter announced through a blog post that the company had acquired Tweetie. Twitter stated that the acquisition stemmed from the lack of an official, Twitter-branded app. The blog post also stated that the app would be rebranded as “Twitter for iPhone” and would be released in the coming weeks. Twitter For iPhone is available for free on iTunes named just Twitter (iTunes link). Twitter had acquired Tweetie about a month ago and I was waiting for it. Up until yesterday Tweetie was available for $4 dollars and now it’s free. There are no big changes from Tweetie except that it is free. But it’s not a bad thing Tweetie was named best twitter app on iPhone.
