Anti Facebook War Heats up!

What started three weeks ago as small effort by four New York students to decentralize the social web,on please fund us page on kickstarter,a website where people raise money for worthy projects from donors is gaining big time.

With recent concerns overs privacy on Facebook,it is not a surprise that an alternative planning to enter this Social web Market with support from People.
But what is surprising though is unlike Facebook and many other Social networking sites, the alternative,Diaspora is not running behind Venture capitalists but is achieving its funding from ordinary people.

The efforts of the diaspora group started on kick-starter with a initial goal of $10,000 and it did not take long, within 12 days they had reached it.On Tuesday,it had $25,000 from around 750 backers. And thats when  The New York Times ran an article of the idea and all the money started pouring in.Currently, they have $135,000 in their pockets and the money hasn’t stopped raining  and the showers continue as you read.

Diaspora wants to make privacy and connectedness go hand in hand.

Diaspora’s idea:
Diaspora basically enables computers to share updates, photos and videos directly with each other. It eliminates the middleman,i.e facebook, picasa etc and you and your clients are the only ones who have access to the data.
With around 400 million users already on facebook, is it to late? Tell us what you think!
